The New South Wales Government has assured healthcare staff on the Monaro that a renal dialysis unit is close to becoming a reality.

The Coalition made a $1m promise to install the facility at Cooma before the last election.

Monaro MP John Barilaro says the Health Department is in the final stages of planning and design, but it is still not clear when the unit will be installed.

He says he concedes the Monaro Renal Dialysis Support group has expressed concern about the project.

“What has happened over the last two weeks is I've met with the renal group, just to see what progress about where it is up to,” Mr Barilaro said.

“They raised a number of concerns in relation to how much information they were being given by the Southern Area Health team.”
