Trowbridge transplant man’s trek fundraiser

Kidney transplant patient David Jefferies is heading on a sponsored trek up Mount Snowdon next month in a bid to raise money for the renal unit at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

Mr Jefferies, from Hyde Road, Trowbridge, has been a renal patient since he was 18 days old. After 93 operations he had a kidney transplant in 2003.

He will be joined by a group of seven friends on the walk and they are currently seeking sponsorship.

Mr Jefferies said: "Before my transplant I was on dialysis for a long time for four hours a day, three times a week to keep me alive. It was hard, not just for myself but for my family too.

"The team at the transplant unit is great. Everyone knows everyone and they make you feel so welcome."

Fundraising efforts will include a darts competition at the Twelve Bells pub on May 12, signing in from 11am until 1pm ready for a 1.30pm start.

Mr Jefferies can be contacted on 07581 212058.
