MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jun 05, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Satellite Healthcare, one of the nation's first and leading providers of kidney dialysis services and a major sponsor of nephrology research, announced today that it has joined with UT Medical Group, Inc. (UTMG) to provide patient-focused, personalized services at two dialysis centers in Memphis.

Satellite, a not-for-profit community-based organization with over 50 centers in California, Texas, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and New Jersey, has provided excellent patient care for nearly 40 years. UTMG, a not-for-profit, non-tax-supported group practice, is the private practice arm of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

"Satellite is focused on providing comprehensive, personalized care for those with chronic kidney disease (CKD)," said Mark Burke, President and CEO of Satellite Healthcare. "We are delighted to bring our patient-centered approach and capabilities to the Memphis community. We look forward to a strong, enduring relationship with both UTMG's physicians and the patients and staff at our new locations."

"UT Medical Group welcomes its partnership with Satellite Healthcare, an organization with an enviable emphasis on quality, continuity of care, academic support and community needs," said J. Lacey Smith, M.D., CEO and Chief Medical Officer for UTMG. "Considering Tennessee's and the Mid-South's endemic problems with diabetes, vascular disease and renal failure, Satellite is a strong match for UTMG, the largest multi-specialty group in Memphis and the major practice arm of the University of Tennessee."

"This partnership will bring cutting edge, evidenced based approaches for treatment of the large number of patients with chronic kidney disease who live in the Memphis area," said L. Darryl Quarles, M.D., Director, Division of Nephrology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. "Satellite shares our commitment to excellence and innovation in patient care and together we are committed to delivering the best care possible."
