Country Health SA says the success of a trial mobile dialysis service in the state's far north APY Lands last year has led to the program continuing.

The service allows renal patients to return to communities in the APY Lands, as part of treatment in Alice Springs or Port Augusta.

Six trips to different communities have been scheduled for the next six months.

Country Health SA's Belinda Moyes says it will allow more patients to visit their homes.

"I think there is potential there, certainly at this point we're just looking at it so people can visit their community but I think it's got merit and it certainly warrants looking at," she said.

"We had overwhelmingly positive feedback from the people who were dialysed from the communities and their families and also from the staff who undertook the trip."
