SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—A new dialysis wall box that organizes dialysis plumbing connections in one unit could help clinics lower costs and avoid rescheduling patient treatments due to water leaks.

“A consistent water supply is vital to the dialysis process, and for years the connections have been hidden behind a wall,” said Patrick Marinan, chief operating officer, Perma-Chase. “By placing all the plumbing connections inside a self-contained unit, our new Perma-Chase eliminates those problems and helps dialysis operators hold down their costs.”

The Perma-Chase device, now ready for the market, creates those savings by moving water connections to a single, self-contained unit, Marinan said. Although water leaks are less likely with the Perma-Chase innovation, any water that leaks from connections will simply and safely flow down the drain.

“Accidents such as leaks can create significant headaches for dialysis providers,” Marinan said. “With Perma-Chase, those headaches are gone.”

 Another important advantage of the design is the time saved on repairs.

“With the older wall boxes, repairing leak damage can also mean a devastating loss in revenue. Centers usually close to make the repairs, sending patients to competitors—and then you have to hope those patients will come back. Any repairs to Perma-Chase can be made in just a few hours, on the weekend when most centers have fewer or no patients.”
