A national renal dialysis company has applied to the state to take over three area dialysis centers.

WNY Dialysis Centers is operated by physicians from Nephrology Associates of WNY, who will continue to staff the centers, says Jim Greenwood, division vice president. Knickerbocker Dialysis Inc., another affiliate of DaVita, already provides consulting and administrative services at the sites through a contract with WNY Dialysis.
The ownership change was part of the original agreement with WNY Dialysis when the two groups began working together, he says.
Included are the new Northtowns Dialysis Center at 4041 Delaware Ave. in Tonawanda, as well as the Orchard Park Dialysis Center on Taylor Road and Suburban Dialysis Center behind Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital on Maple Road. The Delaware Avenue facility opened this year to replace a site that had been housed inside Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, which closed in March.
If approved by the DOH, the ownership change would give DaVita seven locations in Erie and Niagara counties.
